Toyota Material Handling Europe joins hands with ITP to expand service offering for its customers

15.09.2024

Toyota Material Handling, a global leader in material handling equipment and solutions, and ITP, a renowned company specialising in digital transformation, announce a mutually beneficial collaboration aimed at providing customers extended services through strategic audits of third-party information systems and infrastructure.

Independent audit

The primary objective of this collaboration is to independently audit IT partners brought into Toyota Material Handling’s projects to assess and enhance their maturity and capabilities so that they meet strict quality requirements. Entering into this partnership, focus lays on three core areas: architecture, security, and processes. Each area was thoroughly analyzed to measure the system’s readiness and maturity across various dimensions:

Architecture: evaluate the technology and system aspects of Information Systems to ensure alignment with Toyota’s requirements, standards, and vision for further customer needs.
Security: assess the implementation of technologies, processes, and measures within Information Systems to safeguard against potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
Processes: audit the maturity of Information Systems development processes, including project management, testing, deployment, and support, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in project execution.

Challenges to uphold quality requirements

As an industry leader, Toyota Material Handling Europe manages multiple projects simultaneously, each with unique requirements, complexities, and levels of importance. Aligning all vendors under a unified approach is a critical aspect to Toyota Material Handling’s risk and quality standards. Selecting the best vendor for each project requires balancing factors like quality and expertise, ensuring that no risks are taken with vendors who might not meet the high standards. Careful planning and decision-making are crucial. Toyota Material Handling first runs internal audits to its vendors and confirms its findings with external experts to look for potential gaps and ensure a full quality check.

Solutions and approach

The audit approach was meticulously designed to address all of Toyota Material Handling Europe’s essential quality requirements. Focusing on three key areas, this comprehensive analysis covers every facet of the Information System lifecycle, including development, customization, testing, deployment, support, and modernization.
Following the audit, identified issues are prioritized and subsequently tailored recommendations for each are provided. For problems deemed to have a high or moderate impact, a proposal with actionable steps to be implemented in upcoming projects is offered. This proactive approach ensures that issues are addressed efficiently, mitigating risks and improving project outcomes.

Results

Following ITP’s comprehensive analysis of warehouse control systems in three key areas, the joint team developed over 315 specific recommendations for improvement. Moving forward, Toyota Material Handling Europe is poised to leverage these insights to enhance operational efficiency and ensure higher value delivery to its customers.
